Frances Karttunen:

CEMITTA vt to stare at someone, to pay close attention to something / mirar a otro de de hito en hito (M), estar muy atento, o absorto en algun negocio (M), lo fija, lo admira, le hace caso, lo mira (Z) [(1)Zp.194]. In the single attestations, the initial vowel is marked long, and the M appears as n, but the derivation is transparent, and the sense is compatible with the entry in M. See CEM, (I)TTA.
