a bean seller

The description (on f. 48r) of the bean seller uses male pronouns, but the seller that is pictured is a woman. The description explains how the seller takes great pains to sort the beans as to size and color (and there is a great variety). The best beans are equated with a good bracelet, jadeite, and turquoise. They are stored in a bag, a bin, or a reed box (petlacalli). (SW, paraphrasing)
