Alonso de Molina, Vocabulario en lengua castellana y mexicana y mexicana y castellana, 1571, part 2, Nahuatl to Spanish, f. 54r. col. 2. Thanks to Joe Campbell for providing the transcription.

Frances Karttunen:

MAHU(I) to be frightened / temer (M) Z has O for A in the first syllable, and this substitution in this particular item is common in modern Nahuatl, although not in T. X gives u, which is not the local reflex of either O or Ō . In both cases the labial vowel represents an assimilation of A to following HU.
Frances Karttunen, An Analytical Dictionary of Nahuatl (Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, 1992), 132.
