NAHUATIĀ vt to give orders to someone / mandar algo a otros, o pedir licencia o darla para hacer algo, o para ir a alguna parte, o citar a otro, o despedir y echar los criados de casa, o despedirse de algunos el que quiere partirse para algún lugar (M) Although this would appear to be related to NĀHUAT(I) 'to speak clearly,’ it is attested with a long vowel in the first syllable only in X. Elsewhere, across sources, it is nowhere marked long. In T, NĀHUAT(I) has the reflex of a long vowel in the first syllable, and NAHUATIĀ a short one.
