Some of our more complex, multi-field searches (such as the search field on our homepage and Search All Fields) are currently under repair and may not work as expected.

Thank you to all our users who emailed to alert us to the problem! We hope to have it repaired soon.

Meanwhile, elements of the Advanced Search are working and the Alphabetical Listings are working, too.

tehuitztli.

Headword:
tehuitztli.
Principal English Translation:

bill, beak, pointed stone (See Karttunen)

IPAspelling:
tewitstɬi
Frances Karttunen:

TEHUITZ-TLI bill, beak, pointed stone / su pico (pájaro, etc.) (T for possessed form), piedra puntiaguda (S) [(2)Tp.134,224]. If this is derived from TE-TL 'stone' and HUITZ-TLI 'thorn,' as the glosses imply, the vowels of both syllables should be short, but in one of two attestations T has them both long. See TE-TL, HUITZ-TLI.
