The Códice Kingsborough (British Museum), which includes information about Tepetlaoztoc, is really a collection of several manuscripts, partly Nahua and partly Maya, partly pre-Columbian and partly colonial, that were copied for a Lord Kingsborough in the 19th century. The collection was published as Antiquities of Mexico (1830–1848). The part about Tepetlaoztoc provides a revealing view of life for Nahuas in their relationships with abusive encomenderos.
