The hieroglyph for the name Tlazalo in the Matrícula de Huexotzinco shows a hand holding on to one of seven tesserae, likely pieces of mosaic that were being put into a mosaic. See our entry in the Visual Lexicon of Aztec Hieroglyphs for this glyph, which comes from folio 668 recto. On that same page, we share examples of turquoise blue tesserae and examples of mosaics that were made from them. (SW)
