tochtecolotl.

Headword:
tochtecolotl.
Principal English Translation:

ringdove (see Karttunen)

Orthographic Variants:
tōchtecolōtl
IPAspelling:
toːtʃtekoloːtɬ
Frances Karttunen:

TŌCHTECOLŌ-TL ringdove / paloma torcaz (Z) [(2)Zp.93,224]. Since neither of the birds generally known as ringdoves are indigenous to Mexico, the gloss does not make a clear identification among the many doves and pigeons of the area. Possibly this is Columba fasciata, a dove with a ring-like marking on the neck. See TŌCH-TLI, TECOLŌ-TL.
