tzotzocatl.

Headword:
tzotzocatl.
Principal English Translation:

someone miserly and avaricious (see Molina)

IPAspelling:
tsotsokɑtɬ
Alonso de Molina:

tzotzocatl. berruga, o persona lazerada, apretada y escasa.
Alonso de Molina, Vocabulario en lengua castellana y mexicana y mexicana y castellana, 1571, part 2, Nahuatl to Spanish, f. 154r. col. 1. Thanks to Joe Campbell for providing the transcription.

Frances Karttunen:

TZOTZOCA-TL pl: -MEH someone miserly and avaricious / verruga, o persona lacerada, apretada y escasa (M), mezquino, verruga, grano que no tiene pus (T) [(1)Tp.244, (3)Zp.84,85,227, (6)Xp.98,99]. There is a gender distinction in current Spanish verrugo ‘miser’ and verruga ‘pimple.’ The latter can also be a disparaging term for a person. T seems to use TZOTZOCA-TL both ways. M also has unreduplicated tzocatl.
Frances Karttunen, An Analytical Dictionary of Nahuatl (Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, 1992), 319.
