TZĪCUĒHU(A) [(4)Bf.2r,4r,5r,6r]. This is only attested paired with TLAPĀN(I), the sense of the phrase being ‘for children to be born.’ The construction also appears in the grammar of Olmos with the same sense. TLAPĀN(I) alone can mean ‘for eggs to hatch,’ and TZĪCUĒHU(A) probably has a similar meaning. M has tentzicueua ‘to nick the rim of a container’ and quauhtziceualli ‘large splinters of wood,’ suggesting that the basic meaning of the verb is ‘to chip or splinter off.’ It may also be related to TZITZĪCA, having to do with becoming full. In three out of four attestations in B the vowel of the first syllable is marked long. In the fourth it is specifically marked short.
