It appears to consist of CUĀ(I)-TL ‘head’ and either –TLAN or truncation of –TLANI ‘below.’ TLANCUĀ(I)-TL ‘knee’ appears to be related to TLANĪTZ-TLI ‘shinbone.’ X has apparently metathesized this, as it appears in a compound and a derived noun as TLACUĀN.
