Frances Karttunen:

CAYAHCIHU(I) for clothes to wear out / se desgasta (ropa) (T) [(1)Tp.115]. The single attestation in T does not have an internal glottal stop, but in view of the tendency in T to lose such glottal stops, this is a plausible derivation from (I)HCIHU(I). Compare TEOHCIHU(I) ‘to be hungry.’ The first element may be related to M’s cacayactic ‘something thin, with respect to a cloak or blanket.’ This appears to be synonymous with CANĀHU(I).
