*CUĒCH-TLI This is the second element of CALCUĒCH-TLI ‘soot’ and CUAUHCUĒCH-TLI ‘sawdust’ and apparently means ‘residue.’ It contrasts in meaning and possibly in phonological form with M’s cuechtli which refers to a type of snail or spiral shell.
