-ĪXCUĀTLACUAXĒL only attested in possessed form the part in one’s hair / su raya (del pelo) (T) [(1)Tp.136]. This should be derived ultimately from XELOĀ ‘to divide something, ‘but the attestation has the reflex of a long vowel in the last syllable, suggestion XĒLOĀ ‘to spread something out’ instead. See ĪXCUĀ(I)-TL, CUAXELOĀ. Frances Karttunen, An Analytical Dictionary of Nahuatl (Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, 1992), 112.
