The above sentiments are echoed in León's sermonario of 1614. He accuses Nahuas of neglecting their souls instead putting all their care into what they are drinking: "aic tle huel amotechcopa mìtoz, omolcauh in octli, achtopa molcauaz in tlein mocuaz, canel çan octli in cenca itech antlacuahtlamàti" (it can never be said of you [that] pulque is forgotten; first what is eaten will be forgotten, since it is just on pulque that you [so] very strongly rely).
