This official would be in charge of a group of twenty tribute laborers, one tecpantli, that would be sent out on community work projects. The tequitlato would work with the centecpanpixqui or the macuiltecpanpixqui (who guarded five groups of twenty) to get the people out onto the various projects. From the Ordenanzas de Cuauhtinchan, we know that women could be a part of these groups as well as men; on this gender dimension, see paragraph 116.
