Frances Karttunen: 

One would expect a long vowel form Ā–TL 'water' here, but AH is attested in C and R. In T the glottal stop is missing, but the vowel is not marked long. It appears to be related to AHHUACH–TLI 'dew'. This verb is homophonous with the applicative form of AHHUA.
