This plant derives from the area of Cuernavaca, especial Xochitepec and Cuernavaca itself, in flat and wild places. The roots were mashed and made into a diuretic, to clear obstructions to urination. A similar plant with the same name and used for the same purpose was observed near Quauhquechollan (here spelled "Quauhquechulla").
