Search Issues: Update 2026-08-06

Some of our more complex, multi-field searches (such as the search field on our homepage and Search All Fields) are currently under repair and may not work as expected.

Thank you to all our users who emailed to alert us to the problem! We hope to have it repaired soon.

Meanwhile, elements of the Advanced Search are working and the Alphabetical Listings are working, too.

-ellelaci.

Headword:
-ellelaci.
Principal English Translation:

to suffer greatly (this form takes a possessive rather than a subject prefix; see Karttunen)

Orthographic Variants:
-ēllelahci
IPAspelling:
-eːllelɑhsi
Frances Karttunen:

-ĒLLELAHCI verb that takes possessive rather than subject prefixes. to suffer greatly / recibir o tener mucha pena y aflicción (M). The first element of this is apparently an incorporated noun which is necessarily possessed with the possessive prefix expressing the person and number of the subject; ‘he suffers’ is expressed as ĪĒLLELAHCI.
