The use of -tlalli to refer to this powder or sand is not unusual. The Florentine Codex has other examples, such as apetztlalli (what Anderson & Dibble translated as "iron pyrite earth"), on this same folio, and temetztlalli (ground lead) on folio 215 verso. (SW)
