xochipalli = "laquer pigment made with yellow or orange flowers of the Cosmos type" (This translation comes from the keywording team at the Digital Florenting Codex.) The Nahuatl text, in translation by Anderson and Dibble, refers to the term as a compound of flower (xochitl) plus color (tlapalli) and explains that this is a dyeing medium that comes from the hot lands.
