something tasteless, insipid, sour (see Karttunen)
Orthographic Variants:
āhuēlic
IPAspelling:
ɑːweːlik
Frances Karttunen:
ĀHUĒLIC something tasteless, insipid, sour / desabrido, insípido (T)[(1)Tp.169]. One would expect the reflex of AH rather than Ā and a literal meaning of ´not-tasty.´ The single attestation has Ā, however. Possibly the sense is ´water-flavored,´ hence ´tasteless.´ See Ā-TL, HUĒLIC. Frances Karttunen, An Analytical Dictionary of Nahuatl (Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, 1992), 8.
