Ayaquica.

Headword:
Ayaquica.
Principal English Translation:

a name (see attestations); might this name be a combination of ayac (no one) and ica (with), i.e., alone?

Attestations from sources in English:

General Fortino Ayaquica lived at the time of the Mexican Revolution of 1910 (see the writings of doña Luz Jiménez, 1979). Agustín Ayaquica and Lucas Ayaquica are names attested in Spanish colonial Nahuatl-language testaments from the Ocotelolco area of Tlaxcala and published in the excellent series, Vidas y bienes olvidados. Another Ayaquica (also male) is mentioned in the Book of Tributes from Morelos (Cline 1993, 265), and the Matrícula de Tributos, e.g. f. 535v. The glyphs range from a person alone or a person with tears.
